Honolulu, Hawaii, 04 December 2023 – The Mid Planning Conference (MPC) for the Multilateral Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) commenced on Tuesday, 05 December 2023 until Friday, 08 December 2023. The MPC was hosted by the United States (US) Third Fleet (C3F) situated at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH), Kanaohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii, United States of America.

 

Twenty-nine (29) partner nations participated in this year’s MPC RIMPAC and Brunei Darussalam was represented by four officers from the Royal Brunei Navy, Lt Cdr Muhammad Rosfadhly bin Haji Rosli, RBN, Lt Cdr Shamshu Nuzli Wazri bin Haji Tajuddin, RBN, Lt Awangku Faizul Azmizan bin Pg Haji Rajalli, RBN and Lt Mohamad Amirul Azwan bin Haji Dullah, RBN.

 

During the Mid Planning Conference (MPC), Captain Richard Meyer, Deputy Commander of the US Third Fleet, delivered the opening remarks. Emphasizing this year’s objectives, he articulated, “To exercise combined RIMPAC force capabilities in a dynamic maritime environment and to demonstrate enduring interoperability across the full spectrum of military operations.”

 

The MPC not only provides a framework for dialogue but also encourages participants to establish connections and coordination through associated working groups. This approach ensures a comprehensive and well-coordinated preparation for RIMPAC 2024, fostering effective multinational cooperation. The Workings Group also give opportunities for the participants to have ‘side bar discussion’ with the partner nation as well as the service providers for the logistic requirements.

 

The Final Planning Conference (FPC) will be held in March 2024 in San Diego, United States of America.
