MUARA, Friday, 12 June 2020 – A foreign fishing vessel carrying five fishermen onboard was seized by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) ship KDB DARUTTAQWA on Thursday, 11 June 2020.
The vessel was conducting illegal fishing operations 50 nautical miles from the coast of Brunei Darussalam. The RBN apprehended the fishermen and handed them to the Marine Police, Royal Brunei Police Force, in the presence of a representative from the Fisheries Department.
This is the first illegal fishing vessel apprehended by RBN this year. Last year, there was a total of three foreign fishing vessels were apprehended.
