MUARA NAVAL BASE, Monday, 28 August 2023 – The Final Planning Conference (FPC) for Exercise HORNBILL 29/2023 with the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has been successfully conducted through online video teleconferencing (VTC) at Nakhoda Ragam Meeting Room, Naval Training Centre (NTC), Muara.

The FPC was hosted by the RMN, led by Commander Mohd Shazlan bin Hj Mohamad Shiger, RMN, Staff Officer of Planning and Contingency and co-chaired by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN),  represented by Lieutenant Commander Md Shahrul Idham bin Hj Bungsu, RBN, Commanding Officer of KDB BERKAT. Also present during the conference were representatives from RBN Fleet HQ and RMN Eastern Fleet HQ.

The conference concluded with both Navies confirming to prior plans while also making further improvements to programmes that had been previously discussed during the Initial Planning conference (IPC). This year, Exercise HORNBILL 29/2023 will be focusing on the concept of Surface Warfare Procedures and Maritime Security.

The biennially conducted exercise aims to further enhance maritime security, promote interoperability, and fostering lasting friendship between both RBN and RMN.
