MUARA, 13 July 2020 –
Her Excellency Nicola Rosenblum, Australia High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam made a farewell call to the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily at the Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters.

Accompanying Australia’s High Commissioner was Lieutenant Colonel Dan Hauser, Assistant Defence Adviser to Brunei, Australian Defence Force (ADF).

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between both countries in the defence sector. Defence relations between the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has strengthened through various areas of engagement on both bilateral and multilateral platforms. Both sides discussed the inauguration of the recent Exercise PENGUIN Air Phase 01/2020 and expressed pleasure in the mutually beneficial conduct of the exercise. Both sides also discussed contemporary security concerns in the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Both sides also expressed their commitment in further enhancing defence cooperation in the future. Throughout her 4 year tenure, RAN made six ship visits and one submarine visit to Brunei Darussalam.

Her Excellency’s role has been instrumental in deepening bilateral relations between RBN and RAN since her appointment as Australia’s High Commissioner to Brunei on 3 August 2016.
