MUARA, Monday, 07 September 2020. The Exercise Planning Conference for Maritime Training Activity SEAGULL between Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Philippine Navy (PN), hosted by the Royal Brunei Navy was held today at MNCC via video conference.

The conference was led by Commander Mohammad Azrin bin Haji Mahmud, Commanding Officer of KDB DARULAMAN as the Head of Delegation. Captain Richard M David PN, Director of Fleet Marine Warfare Centre (FMWC), Naval Education, Training and Doctrine Command (NETDC) as Head Planner for the exercise led the planning team for the Philippine Navy. Also present were other officers from the RBN Headquarters and Fleet Headquarters and officers from FMWC, PN Headquarters and Fleet-Marine Ready Force (FMRF).

During the video conference, discussions were focused on the upcoming future plans and identifying any immediate window of opportunities for both navies to conduct live exercise as the impacts of the current COVID-19 outbreak has halted any face to face interactions for the time being.

The combined naval exercise aims to strengthen bilateral security relationship and cooperation as well as to enhance interoperability between the two navies and promote mutual understanding and to bolster the existing long-standing relationship among the officers and men of both navies.
