KARACHI, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN; Tuesday, 11 December 2018 – A two-day Final Planning Conference (FPC) for Multilateral Exercise AMAN 2019 concluded in PNS HAIDER, Karachi, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.The FPC was hosted by the Chief Staff Officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet (CSO to COMPAK), Commodore Naeem Sarwar, and took place between 10 to 11 December 2018. A total of 41 representatives from 19 countries (including 4 from ASEAN; Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand) took part in the FPC, where the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) was represented by two officers, Lieutenant Commander Ade Roddiane bin Hj Mohd Rosdi, RBN and Lieutenant Ak Khairul Anwar bin Pg Hj Abu Bakar, RBN.
This planning conference provided a means of finalising the details for participants and observers alike in ensuring the conduct of Multilateral Exercise AMAN, scheduled to be held in waters off Karachi in February 2019, runs smoothly and in a safe manner. The concept of the 2019 edition of this Multilateral Exercise will revolve around information sharing and dialogues, through the International Maritime Conference, and enhancing and developing interoperability between navies in countering non-traditional threats, such as Vessel Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) and anti-piracy operations, as well as high end warfare serials, namely Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Gunnery exercises and Air Defence exercises.
The RBN first participated in this multilateral exercise in 2013, which was the 4th of its series. KDB DARULAMAN, commanded by Cdr Muhd Hadi Syarifuddin bin Hj Muhd Hassanal Mega at the time, took part in the RBN’s first participation in this multinational exercise. Next year, however, the RBN will commit 2 officers to participate in the 2019 edition of Multinational Exercise AMAN.
