MUARA, Tuesday, 12 July 2022 – Yang Mulia First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji, Commander Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) received an introductory call from Commander Ishikawa Kiyoshi, Defence Attaché of Japan to Malaysia Accredited to Brunei Darussalam. Also in attendance were Lieutenant Commander Kentaro Sugimoto, the Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy for Defence Cooperation to Brunei Darussalam, Lieutenant Wada Toshifumi, and the Chief of Staff, RBN.
During the call, Commander RBN expressed his condolences on the passing of Japan’s Former Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. The Commander continued to express his gratitude for the continued cooperation and affirms the friendly bilateral relations between RBN and the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) which has flourished from various avenues including port calls, passage exercises, and mutual attendance at multilateral events. Commander RBN also expressed RBN’s support to the 18th West Pacific Naval Symposium and the International Fleet Review, which will be hosted by JMSDF in Yokohama, Japan in November this year.
Commander RBN also conveyed his appreciation to Lieutenant Commander Kentaro Sugimoto for his commitment towards defence cooperation between RBN and JMSDF and looks forward to more avenues of friendship and cooperation in the years ahead.
