REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, Friday, 1 April 2022 – The Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji made an introductory visit to the Republic of Singapore from 30 March to 1 April 2022.
The introductory visit began at Changi Naval Base where Commander RBN paid a courtesy call to Rear Admiral Aaron Beng, Chief of Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) prior to the visit led by Rear Admiral Yong Wei Hsiung, Commander of Maritime Security Command, RSN to the Maritime Security Response Vessel.
Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence, Republic of Singapore, the next day, Commander RBN was welcomed by Rear Admiral Aaron Beng, Chief of Navy, Republic of Singapore, and proceeded to inspect the Guard of Honour, mounted by Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel.
The official proceedings continued with a courtesy call by Commander RBN to Lieutenant General Melvyn Ong, the Chief of Defence Force at the Ministry of Defence and to Dr. Ng Eng Hen, the Minister for Defence of Singapore. During the calls, both sides commended the special friendship of more than 40 years and acknowledged the long-standing bilateral defence cooperation between both countries despite the challenging times of a global pandemic.
The introductory visit by Commander RBN to Singapore highlights the continuous commitment to strengthen the defence cooperation between the RBN and RSN. The involvement of Officers and Sailors further emphasizes the close ties between the two navies throughout the spectrum of leadership and is further propelled by regular exchange of visits, frequent interactions, professional exchanges, bilateral and multilateral exercises, trainings and courses.
