MUARA, Friday, 19 April 2019 – With the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, First Admiral Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily took over from First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad as the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) at a Change of Command Ceremony at the Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters. 

Upon arrival at the parade square, the Commander of RBN, First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi received the Honourary Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour which comprised of personnel from the RBN. The march parade was commanded by Lieutenant Commander Junaidi bin Haji Duraman.

First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi then gave his final speech as the 15th Commander of RBN. The day’s event continued with a signing ceremony of the handover certificates, marking the official handing over of the Commander of RBN. A ‘Doa Selamat’ was then read to bless the ceremony.

Marking the new duty placement, the new Commander of RBN, First Admiral Haji Othman received the Honourary Salute and later proceeded to inspect the Guard of Honour. This was then followed by his inaugural speech as the 16th Commander of RBN.

Having served the RBN with excellence for 32 years, First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad was appointed the Commander of RBN since 2015. Under his leadership, the RBN achieved successes in both her regional and international operations. He also contributed to MINDEF and RBN by further strengthening the bilateral relations between RBN and other foreign naval forces.
