Thursday 11 April 2019 – The closing ceremony for the Second Intake Basic Base Defence Course was held at the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Mini Stadium, Muara Naval Base. Prior to the closing ceremony, the Commanding Officer Base (COB) Obstacle Challenge was conducted as the penultimate event of the Second Intake Basic Base Defence Course and acts as a replacement to Exercise Perwira. Its main purpose is to test not only the physical ability of the personnel, but as also the mental capabilities especially in delegating, exposure in tasking, teamwork and responsibilities in going through all the obstacle provided.

The obstacle challenge is a 4.9 km route conducted all around Muara Naval Base and Muara beach, consisting of various obstacles such as carrying logs, jerrycans, crawling, interval running whilst carrying a sandbag as well as cardio exercises called ‘Hell Box’ which includes burpees, pushups and prison lunges. With a total of 20 course participants, the intake is divided into 4 syndicates which consists of 5 personnel in every syndicate. The fastest timing clocked at 37 minutes and 48 seconds, with the winner of the COB Obstacle challenge going to Syndicate Alpha lead by Lt JG Muhamad Zul Adhwa bin Hj Mohd Zulkifli. The Commanding Officer Base (COB), Lt Cdr Zouhdy Bin Abdul Razak attended the closing ceremony as the Guest of Honour. The overall best student goes to 52108 OD Mohd Sofihi Bin Abdul Salam as the most outstanding student throughout the course.

Basic Base Defence Course is held once every year and this is the second intake conducted by the Base Defence and Naval Training Centre. It solely focuses on the basic training for base defence personnel including Internal Security such as Vehicle Check Point, Anti Riot and conducting operations in a Build up area.
