MUARA, Friday 26 August 2022 – The closing ceremony for the Officer Under Training Course (OUTC) 2022 was held at the Multi National Coordination Center (MNCC), Muara Naval Base this morning for 23 young officers of the Royal Brunei Navy consisting of intake 19 and intake 20.

Present during the ceremony was the Commanding Officer of the Naval Training Centre (NTC), Commander Mohammad Zouhdy bin Haji Abd Razak, RBN as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were the Commanding Officers and Executive Officers of RBN ships as well as other RBN officers and Non-Commissioned Officers.       

The 12-week course which was conducted from 6th June 2022 is aimed preparing young officers with adequate knowledge and skills to be able to competently perform their duties and carry out their responsibilities onboard RBN ships, particularly as an assistant to the Officer Of the Watch (OOW). OUTC acts as an enhancement and a continuation of the Special-To-Service term during the officers’ Midshipmen training.

The closing ceremony started with the recitation of surah Al-Fatihah led Lt JG Mohammad Nazrie bin Yusrie followed by a speech from the Senior Instructor, Cdr (R) Pg Omaralli bin Jaya Indera Pg Hj Mokhtar Puteh, Royal Brunei Technical Services. An appreciation speech was then delivered by the course representative and Best Student of OUTC 2022, Lt JG Ak Ahmad Fai’zun Dzakiyy bin Pg Hj Aliuddinn, RBN. In his speech, the young officer shared his experiences and reflections throughout the course. He also highlighted that this course provides the participants the basic yet most crucial knowledge that the young officers are expected to be equipped with for their career as a Naval Officer where safety is prominent and can never be compromised.

Afterwards, the Guest of Honour presented the certificated to the course participants and this was followed by the presentation of a token of appreciation to the Guest of Honour from the course participants. There was also a presentation of a short video made by the course participants. The ceremony was concluded with the recital of ‘Doa Selamat’ and a group photo session with all the course members and the distinguished guests.
