BANGKOK, Thailand, Friday, 25 September 2020 – Thai National Defence College, National Defence Studies Institute, Royal Thai Armed Forces ended the National Defence Course Class 62 at NDC hall with a remark by General Chaichan Changmongkol, Thailand Deputy Minister of Defence. Present as the Guest of honor was General Pornpipat Benyasri, Chief of Defence Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces.

In his remark, the Deputy Minister emphasis those who graduated today must always support the government’s National Strategic Plans in order for Thailand to flourish in the future. Any new proposed initiatives to better the plan are welcome via the proper channel.

Thai National Defence Course students are a mixed of one-third military and police, one-third are from civil servants, and a third from private sectors totalling to 283 students which include 10 international students from Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore and Vietnam.

Throughout a year study period, students were exposed to various strategic leadership in shaping Thailand today and on top of this, international perspective delivered by various in-state ambassadors.  Study field trip in-country to five regions around Thailand were also carried out.  The aim of the field trip was to understand different region carrying their strategy in supporting the national strategy.  Due to COVID-19 pandemic, NDC cancelled Europe study field trip which was schedule in April 2020, only carried out Asian trip which was in December 2019.  Nevertheless, video conferencing sharing session with Thai Ambassador in European Countries were schedule as part of Thai perspective in the specific country.

A week earlier, 10th September, Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-O-Cha was the guest of honour in the deliberation on the NDC’s students supporting strategies for Thailand’s 20 years National Strategic Plan: 2018-2037.  Prime Minister said during his remarks after the presentations by NDC students that he is considering the proposed strategies and will let the appropriate ministers and the ministries to work on it.

Appreciation dinner to NDC’s staffs ends with a brief remarks by the Chief of Defence Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces. The General appreciates the students who organised the events and appreciating all the staffs who had worked behind the scene in ensuring the smooth flow of the course.
