MUARA, Sunday, 18 November 2018 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed the arrival of three Russian Navy Ships, namely Varyag (Slava-Class Guided Missile Class), RFS Admiral Panteleyev (Udaloy-class destroyer) and replenishment vessel RFS Boris Butoma (Boris Chilikin-class fleet oiler). The Russian Navy ships are currently in Brunei for a goodwill visit from 18 – 23 November 2018. The head of Russian Navy delegation for the visit is Rear Admiral Eduard E. Mikhailov, Chief of Staff of The Submarine Forces of the Pacific Fleet.

Present to receive the Russian Navy ships were Commander Hj Norbahrin bin Hj Muamad, RBN, Acting RBN Chief of Staff and Commander Rasman bin Puteh, RBN, Commanding Officer of KDB DARUTTAQWA. Also present were RBN Officers, personnel and band personnel.

During the goodwill visit, there will be Courtesy Call to Minister of Defence II, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Acting Commander of RBN respectively. Also scheduled during the visit are various activities that range from sports interaction, ship visits, a lecture on the history of the Russian Pacific Fleet and a beach cleaning campaign.

The Russian Pacific Fleet also made a goodwill visit to Brunei last year from 12 to 17 October 2017.
