2018 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Officers Mess celebrated its annual Hari Raya Aidilfitri ‘Open Mess’, which was organised by the bachelors and bachelorettes of the RBN which was held at the RBN Officers Mess, Muara Naval Base.
Among guests present was the Minister of Defence II, The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Hj Mohd. Yussof; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud; the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Defence, Yang Mulia Captain (Retired) Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, RBN; Commander of the RBN, First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad; Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force, Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah; as well as previous Commanders of the RBAF, senior officers and officers of the RBAF.
The theme this year was
‘Lebaran Pelaut’ and it is aimed at reliving the proud culture and traditions of the RBN. The highlight of the event was a trip down memory lane where various mementos and photographs of previous engagements with foreign navies, events and gatherings stretching back to the 1960’s to present day. The night was also filled with music played by the very own RBN Band the D’Anchorage.
