MUARA, Tuesday, 27 June 2023 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) held a dual sporting event of a half marathon and tug-of-war at the Naval Training Centre (NTC).

Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, RBN Acting Commander, attended the sporting event as the Guest of Honour. The sporting event began with the kick-off of the half marathon while the Acting Commander of RBN, the RBN Executive Board, RBN officers and ratings participated in a 5 km Fun Run. Upon completion of the half marathon, the event proceeded with the tug-of-war.

The combined sport event brings together two physically demanding activities to test the contenders’ endurance, strength, and teamwork. The half marathon consisted of the 21 km individual run, and 21 km team run categories. The team run comprised of departments of the RBN namely, Armada ‘A’, Armada ‘B’, RBN Headquarters, Support Service Headquarters, and RBN NTC.

Placings for team run had Armada ‘A’ as the second runner up and Armada ‘B’ as the runner up and the Support Service Headquarters emerging as champions. As for the individual run, second runner up was Lieutenant Commander Muhd Muizz bin Haji Md Jaini, RBN. Runner up was Lieutenant Commander Wan Abdul Naafi bin Metussin, RBN and Ordinary Rate Muhd Shafiq bin Abdul Rahman, RBN was the winner.

The sporting events was held with the objective of promoting camaraderie, teamwork, and a sense of healthy competition and sportsmanship among RBN personnel.
