CHANGI NAVAL BASE, SINGAPORE, Thursday, 10 May 2018 – The United States Seventh Fleet and Republic of Singapore Navy hosted the 3rd Fleet Commander’s Roundtable which aims to promote the theme “Strengthening Cooperation, Building Confidence” among regional navies. The event was attended by Captain Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Acting Fleet Commander Royal Brunei Navy.
The Roundtable provided a mutual platform through plenary sessions, for partner navy fleet commanders from participating countries to present their views on the theme, as well as to share and discuss different aspects of their mission objectives and their responsibilities. The Roundtable also presented opportunities for increased multilateral engagements, exercises and information sharing to improve maritime domain awareness, building measures to deal with emerging maritime threats and promote congruence in line with international maritime norms.
A highlight of the event was a Minute Signing onboard the UNS Brunswick held as part of an agreement amongst fleet commanders to further pursue the 4th Regional Fleet Commanders’ Roundtable next year.
