Muara, Thursday 4 April 2019 – Royal Brunei Navy had organized a Cross Country Championship this morning which started and ended at the Mini Stadium, Naval Training Centre. The championship was opened to all Royal Brunei Navy military personnel which also gave an opportunity for the Royal Brunei Navy
Askar Wanita to participate in the championship as well. The championship was divided into 3 categories; 12km Team category for male, 12km Open category for male, and 8km open category for female. To further enliven the championship, a Fun Run was also organized and opened to spectators who are interested to participate in a 3.5km run. A total of 187 personnel participated in the championship which included 119 male and 66 female.
The championship was organized to give the opportunity to Royal Brunei Navy personnel to race and triumph in this year’s Cross Country Championship. Apart from that, the purpose was to search for potential Cross Country athletes to represent Royal Brunei Navy in the upcoming Royal Brunei Armed Forces Cross Country.
Base A emerged as the winner of this year’s Royal Brunei Navy Cross Country Champion for the 12km team category for male, whereas the second and third place of the championship was won by Base B and Fleet B respectively.
The winner for the 12km male open category of the championship was 51509 OD Mohammad Namirul Azim who managed to finish the course in 56 minutes. The second place winner of this category was 18539 AB Mohammad Alif and the third place winner of this category was 17912 LH Mohammad Hilza who managed to complete the course in 58 minutes and in 60 minutes respectively. The other participants of this category also had the opportunity to grab prizes for fourth till the tenth place.
As for this year’s 8km open category for female, 1289 Lt JG Nabilah came in first place who managed to complete the course in 51 minutes, whereas the second and third place was won by 21446 LH Jannah and 21890 OD Nur Saddatul where both participants managed to complete the course in 52 minutes. Other participants of this category also had the opportunity to grab prize for fourth till the tenth place.
The prizes were presented to the winners of the championship by Captain Haji Othman Bin Haji Suhaili, the Deputy Commander of Royal Brunei Navy who was also the Guest of Honor of the Championship. Also present to witness the event were senior officers, officers, and personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy
