MUARA NAVAL BASE, Wednesday, 28 June 2023 – The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) User Sharing Group conducted a visit to the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) from 26 June 2023 until 28 June 2023. The RAN delegation of 4 personnel was led by Commander William Cam Hooper, the Commanding Officer of the inaugural ARAFURA-Class Offshore Patrol Vessel (NUSHIP Arafura) due to be delivered this year.
The delegates were welcomed by Commander Muhammad Shahmun Azimin bin Haji Asli, RBN Head of Naval System. The visit began with a presentation of PV80 Ship familiarization and a walk-through brief of KDB DARUSSALAM’s seamanship operating systems and capabilities by Lieutenant Commander Ade Roddiane bin Haji Mohd Rosdi, Commanding Officer of KDB DARULAMAN. The RAN delegates also had the opportunity to conduct a day sail onboard KDB DARULEHSAN to further observe operations at sea.
Upon completion of the visit, Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, RBN Acting Commander received a courtesy call from Commander William Cam Hooper and concluded the visit onboard KDB DARUSSALAM for further information sharing.
