MUARA, Wednesday, 21st June 2023 – In commemorating the Royal Brunei Navy’s (RBN) 58thAnniversary, RBN Senior Rates held a Mess Dinner Night at the Senior Rates’ Mess, Muara Naval Base.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy along with his wife, Dr Hajah Dayang Suzana binti Haji Awang Adenan. The Guest of Honour was welcomed by Lieutenant Commander Muizz bin Hj Md Jaini, RBN, Officer In Charge Royal Brunei Navy Senior Rates’ Mess and Warrant Officer 1 Sukarnain bin Mohamed, RBN, President of the Mess Committee (PMC). Also present during the event were the Acting Navy Sergeant Major, Warrant Officers and other RBN senior rates.
Prior to the dinner, a recitation of the Doa Selamat was led by Petty Officer Md Aizuddin bin Hj Sanif, RBN. In his speech, the Acting Commander RBN expressed appreciation to the spouses and families as they continue to support their partners in carrying out their duties. He also highlighted the importance of time management in achieving a good work-life balance. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Mess Dinner is a naval tradition that needs to be preserved in the future. The Acting Commander RBN also congratulated the senior ratings who have received awards during the Celebration Parade.
All members of the Royal Brunei Navy Senior Rates’ Mess Committee and their spouses also had the opportunity to interact with the Guest of Honour as well as other senior rates and spouses who were present during the event. The event concluded with the signing of parchment.
