BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sunday, 2 September 2018 – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to join the National Youth Day Cycling Recreation together with the “Bandarku Ceria” Programme in the capital.
Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and other members of the Royal family.
The National Youth Day Cycling Recreation event was organised as a side event to celebrate the 13th National Youth Day celebration held annually on 1 August by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in collaboration with other ministries including the Ministry of Defence and Brunei Darussalam Cycling Association. The Ministry of Defence’s participation supports the national aspirations of “Bandarku Ceria” Programme as well as promotes the Ministry of Defence’s Healthy Lifestyle Programme.
Among the participating MINDEF’s cyclists were 400 personnel from the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) which also consists of 86 personnel from Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), led by The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II; Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF); Captain (Retired) Dato Paduka Haji Abd Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar and Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, the Permanent Secretaries of Ministry of Defence; First Admiral Pg Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi Bin Pg Haji Muhammad, the Commander of RBN, Service Commanders, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and officers and staff from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF.
