MUARA, Thursday, 16 August 2018 – Cross Country Championship organized by Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) was held at the Mini Stadium, Naval Training Centre, RBN. The Guest of Honour of the event was Deputy Commander of RBN, Captain Haji Othman bin Hj Suhaili@Suhaily, RBN.
The championship was divided into 4 categories, which consisted of Male Teams, and Male Open Category which ran for 12km, while the female RBN personnel participated in the Female Open Category which ran for 8 km. To further enliven the championship, a 3.5 km Fun Run Category was opened to all RBN personnel.
For male RBN Cross Country championship team category, Armada A emerged as the winner, second place went to Pangkalan A and third place went to Armada B.
Winner for the male RBN Cross Country championship open category went to 52314 Ordinary Rate Md Syafiq Bin Md Shahrol, RBN whilst second place went to 52302 Ordinary Rate Faroq Bin Hj Marsidi, RBN and third place went to 802 Lieutenant Wan Abdul Naafi bin Hj Metussin, RBN.
In the female RBN Cross Country championship open category, 21446 Leading Hand Nurul Jannah Binti Anuar, RBN successfully emerged as the winner, 1230 Lieutenant Junior Grade Dk Nur Aqilah Radziah binti Pg Hj Mohd Ali, RBN came in the second place whilst third place went to 1196 Lieutenant Junior Grade Nur Amalina Haji Awang Mohiddin, RBN.
The prizes were presented by the Guest of Honour for all the categories. Also present to witness the event were Senior Officers, Officers and enlisted RBN personnel.
The championship was organized to promote a healthy lifestyle and competition amongst the RBN community. Athletes who triumph during the competition would be brought forward to represent the upcoming Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Cross Country competition.
