MUARA, Friday, 4 March 2022

To commemorate the Event of Isra’ and Mi’raj, religious ceremonies were held concurrently across all Garrisons and RBAF Camps with the main focus at Surau Al-Huda, Royal Brunei Navy.

Physically present to grace the Ceremony as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II. Also in attendance were Royal Brunei Armed Forces Commander, Acting Permanent Secretary of Defence, Royal Brunei Navy Commander, Deputy Permanent Secretaries of Defense and a limited number of Senior Officers, Officers and Ratings. The Ceremony was also live streamed to accommodate the rest of RBN Officers and Ratings via Video Conferencing.

The Ceremony commenced with the collective recitation of the holy verses of Al-Quran, Surah Al-An’am verses 158 to 165, led by Major Awang Ariffin bin Amit, Assistant Head of RBAF Religious Directorate. Following that was a special lecture delivered by YM Ustaz Abdul Rahman bin Hj Ajak, from Al-Minhaaj Centre, with the topic ‘Sembahyangku Kerana Allah’.

The lecture drew in inspiration from Prophet Muhammad’s Mi’raj to Sidratul Muntaha, when Allah SWT decreed to our beloved Prophet the 5 daily prayers. Ustaz Abdul Rahman briefly described the types of prayers that are rejected and those accepted by Allah SWT. It is hoped that all in attendance both physically and virtually can draw their own inspirations and make best effort to become a better practicing Muslim.

Religious ceremonies as such, serve as reminders or awareness and an appreciation of the importance of the daily prayers but also all other religious obligations as well as deeds.
