KUALA BELAIT, Tuesday 16 October 2018 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) conducted a bilateral exercise, Passage Exercise (PASSEX), in Brunei waters. This exercise involved 2 ships; KDB BERKAT of RBN, captained by Lieutenant Commander Ade Roddiane bin Haji Mohammad Rosdi, RBN and KD KELANTAN of RMN, captained by Commander Amron bin Sawat, RMN.
Throughout PASSEX, both naval forces participated in serials such as Publication Exercise (PUBEX), Maouvering Exercise (MANEX), Flag Hoist and Pax Transfer. During serial Pax Transfer, one officer and two other ranks of each ship were temporarily transferred to the other vessel, giving them a chance to further interact with one another and also gave them an opportunity to increase their knowledge on the ship they board. All planned serials were executed successfully throughout the exercise resulting in beneficial outcomes for both RBN and RMN.
This exercise lead to an enhancement of the relationship and mutual understandings between RBN and RMN. It also gave all personnel and officers a chance to practice their drills in executing the serials which acts as an indication that the main objectives were reached. This exercise ended with both captains expressing satisfaction with the exercise, looking forward to having more opportunities in the future to strengthen the ties between both navies.
