BRUNEI WATERS, Thursday, 28 September 2023 – The Royal Brunei Navy’s (RBN) KDB BERKAT and the Royal Navy’s (RN) HMS SPEY conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) in Brunei waters upon her departure from Brunei Darussalam for a logistic visit.

During the PASSEX, both ships conducted a series of communications and maneuvering exercises which concluded with a sail pass. The PASSEX provides an opportunity for all officers and crew from both navies to practice interoperability and continue to build on the longstanding friendship between RBN and RN.

This exercise ended with both captains expressing satisfaction with the exercise, and expressing anticipation to more opportunities in the future to strengthen the ties between both navies.

The RBN remains committed to strengthen its longstanding bilateral relations with RN, enhancing interoperability and capacity-building opportunities towards the goal of cooperation at sea. The RBN wishes HMS SPEY fair winds and following seas to their next port of call.
