BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday, 8 July 2020 – The National Flag hoisting ceremony to mark the start of nationwide celebrations of the 74th birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was held today at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex’s open area in the capital.
Twenty personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), led by Lt Dya Hj Ahmad Ahdaa bin Hj Ahmad, marched into the ceremonial ground where they received the National Flag from the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs.
The National Flag hoisting ceremony also marks the beginning for the citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam to fly the Bruneian flag at their residences, public and private premises nationwide. Flying the national flag nationwide during the period of His Majesty’s birthday celebration brings the people together in the spirit of patriotism, as well as, strengthens the love for the monarchy and country.
