BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sunday, 1 July 2018 – The National Flag hoisting ceremony to mark the start of nationwide celebrations of the 72nd birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was held today at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex’s open area in the capital.
Twenty personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), led by Lieutenant Junior Grade Haji Ahmad Ahdaa bin Haji Ahmad,RBN marched into the ceremonial ground where they received the National Flag from the Guest of Honour, The Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs
The National Flag hoisting ceremony also marks the beginning for the citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam to fly the Bruneian flag at their residences, public and private premises nationwide. The flag represents the sovereignty and identity of the country as well as patriotism, the race and religion. Hence it is the duty to fly the National Flag during the country’s auspicious and important celebrations.
