BRUNEI WATERS, Thursday, 4th May 2023 –
The Royal Brunei Navy’s KDB DARUSSALAM has successfully completed an intensive week of deck landing qualification (DLQ) training and has produced a confident and capable team of flight deck helicopter operators in receiving and launching the Royal Brunei Airforce’s S-70i Black Hawk Helicopter from Monday, 1st May 2023 until Thursday, 4th May 2023.
As an effort towards upskilling the sailors and safeguarding national interests through an effective and relevant training package, the DLQ Training Program was held in order to enhance the Navy and Airforce’s interoperability as well as strengthen its capability in the field. Both units have undergone the training program safely and both vessel and aircraft crews were provided the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and effectively land aircraft on the deck of a ship. The program will see to it that all sailors are equipped to handle any deck landing scenario with confidence and in compliance with the latest safety standards.
The program’s training package was delivered through a combination of classroom instruction, simulation training, and practical exercises. The training covered a range of topics, including deck landing procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures. Throughout the week, trusted instructors made sure that the sailors reaped the maximum benefit of the training.
