The ceremony started with the recitation of surah Al-Fatihah and the signing of the Fleet Commander’s Handing Over Parchment. This was then followed by a handing over of the Fleet’s Sword to the new Fleet Commander. After the official sword was handed over, several gifts were given to the outgoing Fleet Commander as a token of appreciation and an acknowledgement of his services whilst in the Fleet. The event then concluded with the recitation of the closing Doa’ by WO2 Aliuddin bin Hj Sarbini, RBN, followed by a group photo session.

Captain Spry served his tour as a Fleet Commander for approximately 1 year and 9 months, starting from 22 July 2016 until 30 April 2018. During his service as a Fleet Commander, there have been many changes within the Fleet. A Competency Campaign was also introduced amongst the ranks, in the hopes that better awareness, responsibility and accountability are assimilated amongst the officers, men and women of the Fleet. This Competency Campaign was also carried out in order to facilitate faster and more efficient decision making processes. The outgoing Fleet Commander also gave his last direction and guidance to the officers, men and women of the Fleet and reminded them to continue striving towards improving their own individual professionalism and capabilites.
