MUARA, Tuesday, 28 May 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Republic of Singapore Navy
(RSN) successfully held the Final Planning Conference for the Exercise Pelican 42nd Series from May 27th to May 28th, 2024. The conference, hosted by the RBN,
was conducted via video teleconferencing and represented a crucial milestone in advancing bilateral naval cooperation and operational readiness between the two navies.
The conference brought together representatives from the RBN and RSN to finalise preparations for the 42nd Series of Exercise Pelican, scheduled for August this year. This collaborative effort highlights the commitment of both navies to enhancing maritime cooperation and mutual understanding. Participants engaged in detailed discussions on scenario planning and the conduct of the exercise, ensuring effective coordination and interoperability between both navies.
Major Victor Sim Boon Heng, the RSN Head of Delegation for this exercise, expressed appreciation for the dedication and professionalism shown by all participants throughout the conference. He emphasised the importance of Exercise Pelican in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between the two navies. Lieutenant Commander Pengiran Haji Khairul Anwar bin Pengiran Hj Abu Bakar, RBN’s Head of Delegation, reiterated the RBN’s dedication to strengthening maritime cooperation with the RSN and other regional partners, highlighting the necessity of maintaining strong naval capabilities to address evolving security challenges.
