MUARA, Thursday, 26 July 2018 – The Occupational Health and Safety Supervisor (OHS) Course series 02/2018 was conducted by Inspectorate Unit RBAF and the Naval Inspectorate Cell and concluded with a closing ceremony held at Nakhoda Hall, Naval Training Centre (NTC), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). Present as a guest of honor was the RBN Head of Inspectorate Cell representative, Lieutenant Commander Ali Mustafa bin Hj Umar, RBN.
The course was attended by 19 Personnel consisting of 13 personnel from RBN, 4 personnel from Technical Equipment Maintenance Division (TEMD) and 2 personnel from Royal Brunei Navy Primary School (RBNPS).
The three days course, started from 24 to 26 July 2018 consisted of 50% theoretical and 50% practical whereby practical techniques, individual abilities and combined group work were taught and assessed.
The objective of the course is to provide knowledge on the roles and responsibilities of the OHS Supervisor and also to understand the RBAF’s OHS Management system and policy. Knowledge on hazard identification and control risk (Risk assessment and Control Measure) is crucial for every HSE Supervisor were also taught. This is to avoid or minimise the risks consequently making hazards less susceptible at their respective departments.
The closing ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-fatihah led by Petty Officer Jasni bin Anuar, RBN. After the recitation of Surah Al-Faithah, Lieutenant Junior Grade Muhammad Akhmal bin Mohd Akbal, RBN spoke on behalf of the course participants whom gave the opening remarks and shared his experience throughout the course, highlighting his appreciation to attend the course. The speech followed by certificate presentation to the course participants by the guest of honor.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo session. Also present were officers, Head of Departments, Head of Engineering Standards and RBAF’s Inspectorate Unit instructors.
