Muara, Tuesday, 23 August 2022 – The Annual Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Men’s Orienteering Championship was held on 23 August 2022 at the Mini Stadium, Naval Training Center (NTC), Muara. The championship consisted of two categories; Team Category and Open Category.
‘Fleet Team A’ emerged as the winner for the team category of the RBN Men’s Orienteering Championship this year, second place was won by ‘Base Team B’ and ‘Base Team A’ achieved in third place. Winners of the open category were Warrant Officer 2 Muhd Azahari bin Haji Johari (Base Team B) for the age group of 40 years and above (Veteran), Petty Officer Md Fadillah bin Hj Serbini (Fleet Team A) for age group of 35 to 39 years, Lieutenant Junior Grade Muhd Abqari bin Hj Emran (Fleet Team A) for the age group of 30 to 34 years and Able Rate Md Akmal Safwan bin Mazlan (Base Team A) for the age group of 29 years and below.
The prizes were presented by Captain Haji Mohammad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander RBN, present as Guest of Honor. Also present to witness the event were Senior RBN Officers, officers and personnel from RBN.
The purpose of this championship was to test personnel’s map reading skills by obtaining the most check points within a set period of time as well as testing their physical endurance. The championship was also organized to search potential personnel to represent the RBN team for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Men’s Orienteering Championship.
