NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, March 25th, 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) is committed to strengthening its regional partnerships and maritime cooperation. This commitment was recently demonstrated by the participation in the Final Planning Conference (FPC) for the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2024.
The FPC, held from March 25-29, 2024, at Naval Base San Diego, California, brought together representatives from participating nations to finalize plans for the world’s largest international maritime exercise. The RBN delegation actively participated in discussions and planning sessions, ensuring Brunei’s specific interests and contributions are well-integrated into RIMPAC 2024. The delegation consists of Colonel (AirForce) Pengiran Haji Mohammad Hasreen bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, the Defence Attaché of Brunei in the United States as well as 3 RBN officers, including Lieutenant Commander Mohamad Rosfadhly bin Haji Rosli, RBN, Executive Officer KDB DARUSSALAM, Lieutenant Commander Shamshu Nuzli Wazri bin Haji Tajuddin, RBN, Executive Officer KDB DARULAMAN and Lieutenant Mohamad Amirul Azwan bin Haji Dullah, RBN, Assistant Commanding Officer Sea Training Development.
RIMPAC 2024, scheduled for June and July 2024 in and around the Hawaiian Islands, will involve participation by dozens of nations and is expected to include a wide range of realistic training scenarios. The RBN’s participation in RIMPAC reflects its commitment to playing a proactive role in maintaining a peaceful and stable maritime environment in the region.
