Muara Naval Base, Tuesday, 21 November 2023 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed a group of 71 students from Year 1 to Year 6 and 10 teachers from Fairview School for an informative and engaging visit. The tour began at the Dewan Samudera, where Lieutenant Junior Grade Nur Syahiratul Zakiah binti Zakaria presented opening remarks and a brief overview of career opportunities, roles, and responsibilities within the RBN.
The students and teachers were then escorted to the Naval Surface Action Group (NAVSAG) and Base Defence, where they were given a close-up look at various equipment and even had the opportunity to try on some of the specialized gear. To further enhance their understanding of the RBN’s operations, the group embarked on a ship tour onboard KDB DARUSSALAM, exploring the vessel’s bridge, flight deck, forecastle, sick bay, and RHIC Deck.
Throughout the visit, the students and teachers showed keen interest in the RBN’s assets and the personnel safeguarding the nation’s waters. They actively engaged with RBN personnel, asking questions and seeking clarifications. The interactive sessions fostered a deeper understanding of the RBN’s role in national defence and the importance of its contributions to Brunei’s maritime security.
The visit concluded with a memorable group photo onboard the KDB DARUSSALAM, capturing the essence of the fruitful interaction between Fairview School and the RBN. The students and teachers expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the RBN’s operations and admiration for its personnel’s dedication and professionalism.
