MUARA NAVAL BASE, Friday, 24 March 2023 – The 13th Cohort of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ Command and Staff Course (CSC) conducted a study visit to the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) at Muara Naval Base today. The visit consisted of 7 Directing and Administrative Staff, 19 local officers  and 16 International officers from Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Jordan, South Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and the United States of America. The visit began with a welcoming remark by Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy.

The brief began with a showcasing of RBN’s corporate video followed by a presentation delivered by Lieutenant Commander Wan Abdul Naafi bin Metussin, Staff Officer Grade 2 Intelligence pertaining to Inter-agency cooperation in the Contemporary Operating Environment and RBN’s contribution to Brunei Vision 2035. Following the brief, a Forum discussion session was held with a panel consisting of Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander RBN, Commander Mohammad Azrin bin Hj Mahmud, RBN Chief of Staff, and Commader Willie bin Padan, RBN Commandant Naval Training.

Upon completion of the brief, the CSC students proceeded to KDB DARUTTAQWA for an overview on the operating systems and capabilities. Additionally, the cohort learned about the RBN’s efforts in embracing technology as a force-multiplier. They had the opportunity to see first-hand how the RBN uses technology to enhance their capabilities, particularly in areas such as situational awareness, surveillance, and response.

The aim of the visit is to provide CSC students a clear picture on Royal Brunei Navy’s role in the contemporary operating environment.
