
MUARA, Tuesday 12 July 2022 – The Final Planning Conference (FPC) for Exercise HELANG LAUT 20B/22 was successfully conducted through Video Teleconference (VTC) at Bilik Mesyuarat Bendahara Sakam, Naval Training Centre (NTC), Muara Naval Base. The FPC was hosted by the Royal Brunei Navy as the exercise coordinator for this year’s Exercise HELANG LAUT between the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Indonesian Navy (IDN).
The aim of the FPC was to follow up, coordinate and confirm exercise serials and activities previously discussed during the Initial Planning Conference (IPC) in April 2022. Additionally, the conference was also aimed to ensure the planned activities are mutually beneficial in terms of training values, fostering the long-standing friendship and cooperation between RBN and IDN.
Present during the FPC were RBN Lead Team comprising of the Commanding Officer of KDB DARULEHSAN, Commander Saiful Hazril bin Ali, RBN as the Chairman, the Executive Officer of KDB DARULEHSAN, Lieutenant Commander Hj Mohd Arnold bin Haji Osman, RBN as the Advisor of the Exercise and the Air Warfare Officer of KDB DARULEHSAN, Lieutenant Commander Muhammad Hakim bin Hj Basman, RBN as the Exercise Coordinator as well as other RBN fleet officers. IDN delegates were led by Commander Rivo De Havilland, Staff Officer for Exercise, IDN along with other IDN Staff and Operations officers. Also joining the conference was Major Tinton Kurniawan, Assistant Defence Attaché of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam.
The exercise represents RBN’s dedication in fostering bilateral relations with IDN, enhancing mutual co-operation and interoperability through the development of common operational doctrines as well as procedures in naval evolution and maritime tactics. The exercise is planned to be held in 20th to 27th November 2022.
