PENANJONG GARISSON, Thursday, 13 June 2024 - The 2024 Platoon Commander Course and Platoon Sergeant Course, conducted by the School of Infantry, began on March 25, 2024, and concluded on Friday, June 14, 2024. This 12-week intensive course aims to equip military leaders with essential skills and knowledge for effective leadership in various operational environments.
Three officers and four junior rates from the Base Defence RBN attended the course, undergone comprehensive training in planning and executing military operations. The curriculum covered strategic and tactical planning, ensuring participants are prepared for any scenario. The course also emphasized the safe and effective management of live-fire training ranges, which is crucial for maintaining operational readiness and safety.
Participants received specialized training in tactical forest operations, learning the unique tactics and procedures for operating efficiently in challenging forest environments. Practical training in urban warfare, specifically during the Fighting In Built-Up Areas (FIBUA) exercise, enhanced their skills in clearing buildings and securing urban areas.
Communication was a key focus, emphasizing the importance of delivering clear, concise messages to ensure mission success. Participants were taught to apply command and control principles, enabling them to lead and manage personnel in various operational settings effectively.
This course has prepared RBN officers and personnel to lead effectively within their military units, particularly in making critical decisions, managing resources efficiently, and leading confidently in complex situations. These skills are vital for future leadership, especially in defending the Royal Brunei Navy Base.
