TUTONG, Saturday, 28 July 2018 – An officer from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Lieutenant Junior Grade (Lt JG) Mazrina bte Marzlan, RBN recited her Islamic oath at her sister-in-law’s residence at Kg Kebia, Tutong, today.
Present at the ceremony as the Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister of Defence II. Also present were Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, as a representative of Commander of RBAF; Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, Member of the Legislative Council; Yang Mulia Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer; Captain Hj Othman Bin Hj Suhaili@Suhaily, RBN, Acting Commander of RBN; Tutong Assistant District Officer, officers from the RBAF and the Islamic Da’wah Centre as well as families.
The ceremony began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Guest of Honour, followed by the recitation of verses from Al-Qur’an by 18898 Leading Hand (LH) Noorhamsah bin Ibrahim, RBN and the declaration of Syahadah (declaration of faith) by Lt JG Mazrina, RBN led by an officer from the Islamic Da’wah Centre.
The event was further celebrated with the Dikir Marhaban and the sprinkling of bunga rampai, followed by presentation of gifts by the Guest of Honour, invited guests and families.
Lt JG Mazrina bte Marzlan, RBN, now known as Nur Mazarina bte Abdullah Marzlan is the fourth RBAF personnel to convert to Islam this year and the 114th since 2006.
