MUARA, Saturday, 7 March 2020 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) received a visit from Vice Admiral Michael Noonan, AO, Chief of Royal Australian Navy as part of his official visit to Brunei Darussalam (NDB) in conjunction with the arrival of Collin Class Submarine, HMAS DECHAINEUX from 7th March 2020 until 9th March 2020.
Upon arrival to NBD, Vice Admiral Michael Noonan, AO, the chief of Royal Australian Navy welcomed Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office onboard HMAS DECHAINEUX. The following evening, dinner reception was held for the Second Minister of Defense and delegation from the Ministry of Defense. Also present was Her Excellency Nicola Rosenblum, High Commissioner of Australia to Brunei Darussalam and the Commanding officer of HMAS DECHAINEUX, Commander Brad Francis.
Part of his visit as well was a bilateral discussion with the Chief of Navy RBN, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily. Upon arriving RBN Headquarters, Vice Admiral was received by Commander Navy and RBN officers followed by his inspection of the Half Guard that was mounted by RBN personnel. During the discussion both Chief’s acknowledged the significance of the submarines visit and also affirmed the cooperative ties between the two Navies and discussed the future interactions in the fields of training and bilateral exercises.
The visit to RBN concluded with a ship tour onboard KDB DARULEHSAN, one of Royal Brunei Navy’s DARUSSALAM class patrol vessel, and was received by Captain Norshahrinizam bin Haji Talib, Fleet Commander RBN and the Commanding officer of KDB DARULEHSAN.
Vice Admiral Michael Noonan, AO, was appointed as the Chief of Royal Australian Navy on 7 July 2018.
