MUARA, Sunday – Wednesday, 20 – 23 October 2019 –  Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed the arrival of Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut (TNI-AL) KRI JOHN LIE and KRI FRAN KAISIEPO as a goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam beginning on Sunday, 20 October 2019 until Wednesday, 23 October 2019. 

Present to receive KRI JOHN LIE and KRI FRANS KAISIEPO was Commander Hj Edy Jofren bin PDP DP Haji Abdul Jalil, Act Fleet Chief of Staff RBN. Also present were senior officers, officers and RBN personnel. 

Throughout the goodwill visit, First Admiral Rahmat Eko Rahardjo had a courtesy call to the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, RBN. Both sides discussed on the cooperation for further enhancement between the two navies.

KRI JOHN LIE and KRI FRANS KAISIEPO held an onboard reception lead by First Admiral Rahmat Eko Rahardjo and The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence, as the Guest of Honour. The onboard reception also attended by Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Services Commanders, senior officers and officers from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and RBAF, foreign ambassadors and officers from other Brunei ministries.

Officers and personnel onboard KRI JOHN LIE and KRI FRANS KAISEIPO were anticipated to have a community service, football sport interaction between TNI-AL and RBAF personnel and cultural tours throughout their visit in Brunei Darussalam. This will be provide the avenue for both naval personnel to share experiences and knowledge as well as to foster friendship and esprit de corps.
