Australia, Friday, 11 October 2019 – Western Pacific Naval Symposium Senior Enlisted Working Group (WPNS SELWG) 2019 was held at HMAS PENGUIN, Australia from Friday, 11 October 2019 until Saturday, 12 October 2019. The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) was represented by Warrant Officer 1 Pengiran Mohammad Sofian bin Pengiran Haji Metussin, RBN, Navy Sergeant Major.
WPNS SELWG was officiated by Warrant Officer 1 Gary Wight of Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and it was attended by 27 navies including 6 observers. The main subject for this year’s WPNS SELWG was “Contemporary Military Workforce Challenges and Opportunities”
The objectives of this year’s WPNS SELWG was to enhance multinational cooperation and building trusts amongst the navies and discussing and exchanging thoughts and experiences on maritime issues. Future WPNS SELWG will be hosted by The Philippines Navy in 2020 and The Peruvian Navy in 2021.
