MUARA, Monday 1st July 2019 – A handing over ceremony to officiate the appointment of Captain Norshahrinizam bin Haji Talib, RBN, as the Fleet Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces was held at Jetty Bravo, Muara Naval Base.
Upon arrival, Captain Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN, the outgoing Fleet Commander of Royal Brunei Navy was presented with an Honorary Salute followed by an inspection of the parade. The parade was commanded by Lieutenant Awang Mohamad Hasmalie bin Awang Haji Ahmad, RBN.
Captain Zil Husam then gave his final speech as the 25th Fleet Commander of RBN. The event continued with the handover of Alpha Sword, marking the official handing over of the appointment of Fleet Commander. A Doa Selamat was recited after to bless the ceremony.
To mark the new duty placement, the new Fleet Commander of RBN received the Honorary Salute and later proceeded to inspect the parade, followed by his inaugural speech as the 26th Fleet Commander of RBN.
Captain Zil Husam held the appointment of Fleet Commander on 28 May 2018 and has served for 31 years. Prior to his appointment as Fleet Commander, he was posted at Naval Training Centre as Commandant Naval Training since 21 August 2017 and Defence Attaché of Brunei Darussalam to the United States of America working at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Washington, DC on December 2013. He had also commanded KDB DARULEHSAN in 2010, KDB SETERIA in 2005 and KDB PENYERANG in 1998.
