THILAWA PORT, REPUBLIC OF THE UNION OF MYANMAR; Thursday, 21 March 2019 – KDB DARUTTAQWA this evening hosted a reception onboard on the occasion of the goodwill visit to Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Present during the reception was the guest of honor, Rear Admiral Thant Syn Lay, Command Naval Dockyard and His Excellency Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Abu’r Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir, Ambassador of Brunei to Myanmar.
Commander Sonny Iskandar bin Rasani, RBN and Rear Admiral Thant Syn Lay both highlighted in their speech the significance of the goodwill visit in that it would provide the foundation for more opportunities to work closely together in the near future. During the reception, the officers and crew of KDB DARUTTAQWA showcased their cultural heritage through a number of performances, videos and delicacies.
In the afternoon, KDB DARUTTAQWA personnel also organized a sports interaction with the Myanmar Navy in a volleyball match. The sports interaction was organised with the aim of strengthening the friendship and camaderie between the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the the Myanmar Navy. The event took place at Myanmar Navy Indoor Stadium.
KDB DARUTTAQWA will depart Thilawa Port, Myanmar the next day to continue their deployment and join for The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA).
