MUARA, Wednesday, 13 February 2019 – The Initial Planning Conference (IPC) for Exercise PELICAN 38/2019 had commenced on Monday, 11 February 2019 and concluded on Wednesday, 13 February 2019 with the signing of minute of meeting at the Multi National Coordination Centre (MNCC), Muara Naval Base.
The IPC was co-chaired by Commander Edy Jofren bin PDP DP Haji Abdul Jalil, RBN, Commanding Officer KDB DARULEHSAN, as the Head of Delegation for Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), and Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Tan, Deputy Commanding Officer of 188 SQN from Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) as the RSN Head of Delegation.
During the conference, both navies discussed on several matters for the upcoming Exercise PELICAN 38/2019 which will witness its 40th anniversary this year since its establishment in 1979. Some of the planned activities included for this years’ exercise includes a harbour and sea phase exercises and VIP programmes. Briefing was also conducted on the general overview of the exercise as well as the Sequence of Events (SOE) both in Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Singapore.
Other activities conducted during the IPC included a Courtesy Call to the RBN Fleet Commander, Captain Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN by the RSN delegates on the 11th February 2019, and, a dinner reception hosted by the RBN Head of Delegation at Tarindak D’Seni Restaurant the same day.
Further discussion will follow in the upcoming Exercise Planning Exercise (EPC) scheduled in April to coordinate and plan thoroughly the SOE.
