STL MUARA SUPPLY BASE, Saturday, 10 November 2018 – As part of the STL Muara Supply Base Marine Exercise plan 2017 – 2019, Exercise CAST IRON was conducted between STL Muara Supply Base and various Government agencies such as the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), Marine Police (POLMAR), Emergency Medical Ambulance Services, Maritime Port Authority (MPA) and Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) on Saturday, the 10th of November 2018.Amongst the primary objectives of the exercise were to test the coordination as well as communication links between STL Muara Supply Base and Government agencies involved. The exercise also aimed to enhance the capabilities of emergency responders arrangements inside STL Muara Supply Base.
The exercise scenarios comprised of “Vessel on Fire”, “Chemical Caught Fire” and “Man Overboard”, in which the evolutions were conducted safely and that the exercise covered all objectives.
As for the RBN, Exercise CAST IRON was proved to be successful as all duty personnel were able to execute correct standard operating procedures related to the exercise scenarios such as communications procedures between STL Muara Supply Base, Naval Operations Centre (NOC) and duty personnel; Harbour Fire Fighting and Damage Control procedures; and Man Overboard procedures
