MUARA, Monday, 01 October 2018 – Thirteen personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy comprising of 2 officers and 11 junior rates successfully completed their Basic Naval Diving Course for 2018. The 6 weeks course was handled by the Naval Surface Action Group (NAVSAG) Naval Training Centre (NTC) from the 17th of August until the 28th of September 2018 in Muara Camp.
A closing ceremony was held today with a sea circuit presentation from the course participants followed by a presentation of certificates and log Books and a presentation of awards to outstanding course participants presented by the Guest of Honour, Commandant of Naval Training, Commander Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman (RBN).
The highest award was granted to 51970 Ls Ahmad Azri Salihen bin Haji Mohd Salleh with top achievements in all aspects of the 6 weeks course and meanwhile the Best Physical Training Award goes to 18539 LsM Mohammad Alif Bin Masri, both awards were presented by the Guest of Honour.
The 6 weeks course consist of 3 phases of training, during the first phase called the Pool Phase began in the first three weeks where course participants were introduced to the fundamentals of diving underwater, searching procedures, emergency drills as well as pool competency to prepare them for their next phase.
The second phase being the Sea Phase is where the course participants were exposed to the sea as their next area of training. This featured on what was taught in class which mainly focuses on Searching procedures, Signals, Compass and Ship Bottom Inspections both conducted during the day and night at sea.
Third phase being Operation Week whereby the Course Participants were tested mentally and physically on everything they have learned throughout the previous weeks of the training.
Also present at the ceremony were families of the course participants, Instructors, senior officers, invited officers, head of departments and senior ranks of the RBN personnel.
