SINGAPORE, Friday, 11th May 2018 – Six Senior Non-Commission Officer (SNCO) attend the Senior Warrant Officer Exchange Program (SWEP) that took place from 09 – 12 May 2018 at Changi Naval Base, Republic of Singapore.
The SWEP is an annual activity that is rotationally hosted by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). The objective is to enhance cooperation and understanding amongst navies through various confidence-building initiatives. The interaction has undoubtedly forged new friendships and gave opportunity to boost networking amongst RBN and RSN.
The Head of Delegation from RBN is Warrant Officer 1 Pg Mohammad Soffian bin Pg Hj Metussin, Navy Sergeant Major. Accompanying him were Fleet Sergeant Major, Fleet Administrative Supervisor, Diving Training Developer and two weapon engineers from DARUSSALAM Class. Upon arrival at the airport the delegation were received by Military Expert (ME) 5 Janiel Toh, Head of Protocol RSN.
A welcoming dinner hosted by ME6 Richard Goh, Master Chief Navy (MCN) RSN at the Satay by the Bay, Marina Garden on Wednesday evening. Also present were ME5 Ong Teck Lim, Master Chief Maritime Training and Doctrine Command (MC MSTC), MWO Eddie Chua (Master Chief Naval Diving Unit (NDU)), ME4 Hoo Hui Seng (Senior Coxswain 188 Squadron), 1WO James Lai (Special Warfare Group (SWG) NDU) and ME3 Yu Hon Kit (Liaison Officer).
The exchange started with visit to Maritime Training and Doctrine Command (MTDC), RSS SINGAPURA in Changi Naval Base. The delegations were received by MCN and MC MTDC who then deliver a brief explaining on the Method of Learning and Training including the Training Development Organisation. On completion of the brief a tour on training facilities including engine maintenance simulator, ship simulator, fire fighting demonstration and lastly to RSN Museum.
Today, the RBN delegation pays a Courtesy Call to RAdm Timothy Lo RSN Chief of Staff – Naval Staff at RSN Headquarter. A guided tour on board RSS INDOMITABLE one of the Independence Class Littoral Mission Vessel ending today’s programme. Tonight will be the Official Dinner hosted by MCN at Peach Garden.
