Muara Naval Base, Wednesday 24 August 2016 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) will commence their seven days bilateral exercise today. The exercise is code-named EXERCISE PELICAN 35/16. The objective of the exercise is to enhance force interoperability between both navies as well as to build and enhance the skills and knowledge of officers and crew with regards to naval aviation. The aims of this exercise are to enhance mutual understanding as well as to establish camaraderie of both navies. Concept of exercise for this year’s Exercise PELICAN focuses on a series of exercises with special regards to Naval Aviation.
This morning, RSS SUPREME led by Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Ng has arrived safely in Brunei Darussalam. Following the ship’s arrival, the RSS SUPREME delegation and officers from participating ships, KDB DARULEHSAN and KDB SYAFAAT, proceeded with a Sequence of Events (SOE) Review and an Ops Discussion held at the Multi-National Coordination Centre.
Exercise PELICAN comprises of 3 phases. The first phase will commence with a Harbor phase in Brunei Darussalam, followed by three days of sea phase in Brunei waters and post-exercise phase in Brunei Darussalam.
