TUTONG, Friday, 16 September 2016 – Ordinary Rate (OR) Sherul bin Abdullah Imbaran’s long awaited wish to become a Muslim was fulfilled as he recited the Syahadah (testimony of faith) today at his family’s residence in Kampong Sungai Damit, Pemadang, Ukong, Tutong.
Present as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN. Also present were RBN Senior Officers, Officers and family members of OR Sherul.
After officially declaring his Syahadah headed by Awang Hassan bin Amat, Head of Religious Department at the Islamic Da’wah Centre alongside Captain Narulismandy bin Hj Samaih, Admin Officer of Religious Department Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), the ceremony was further blessed with the recital of Dikir Marhaban by the guests and witnesses to mark his inaugural day as a Muslim.
Serving alongside his Muslim colleagues at the Naval Surface Action Group (NAVSAG), RBN, OR Sherul was drawn to their diligence in prayers. He was influenced to the way of life he led after officially joining the RBAF which had sparked his interest in the religion. He added that the military has always emphasised its Muslim members to never miss religious obligations including the five times prayers.
Many who were present during the conversion ceremony congratulated OR Sherul as he enters the Muslim community and spoke of carrying our religious duties together.
