MUARA, Friday, 11 September 2026 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) successfully hosted the Senior Warrant Exchange Programme (SWEP) 2026 with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) from 7 to 11 September 2026. The programme was hosted by WO1 Nasri bin Ladis, RBN Sergeant Major, and welcomed an RSN delegation led by CWO Seck Wai Kong, Master Chief Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy. The annual programme served as a platform for senior warrant officers from both navies to strengthen professional ties, exchange knowledge and experiences, and reinforce the longstanding defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore.
The five-day programme commenced with the arrival of the RSN delegation in Brunei Darussalam, followed by a Welcome Dinner and photo session hosted by the Royal Brunei Navy, providing an opportunity for participants from both navies to foster camaraderie and establish closer professional relationships.
During their stay, the delegation paid visits to the Ministry of Defence and several Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) establishments, including the RBAF Museum, the Performance Optimisation Centre (POC), and the RBAF PRIHATIN Centre. The delegation also visited the Royal Brunei Navy Headquarters, where they paid a courtesy call on the RBN Fleet Commander, Captain Sonny Iskandar bin Rasani, RBN, before proceeding to the Naval Training Centre (NTC). At NTC, the delegation received capability briefings, toured the Castilla Simulator, and engaged in discussion with the RBN Deputy Commander, Captain Mohammad Azrin bin Haji Mahmud, RBN.
As part of the professional exchange, the delegation observed operational capability demonstrations by the Surface Action Group, viewed the Base Defence exhibition, and attended presentations showcasing the Royal Brunei Navy’s training and operational capabilities. In addition to the professional engagements, the programme included recreational and cultural activities such as a visit to Bukit Sipatir and the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Bridge, a Curry Lunch hosted by the RBN Sergeant Major at the Water Sports Complex in Serasa, an Executive Programme, as well as visits to Bandar Seri Begawan.
The programme concluded with a Closing Dinner at the Mangrove Paradise Resort, reaffirming the strong friendship and mutual commitment shared between both navies. The Senior Warrant Exchange Programme continues to serve as an important annual platform for senior enlisted leaders to exchange best practices, strengthen professional development, and deepen cooperation through meaningful engagements and mutual understanding.
