SERASA, Sunday 12 November 2017 – Royal Brunei Yacht Club (RBYC) held a two-day Sailing competition over the weekend. The competition was held in the afternoon with five (5) personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) represented as participants from Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
The competition was divided into two categories namely The Open Category and The Junior Category. RBAF personnel competed in The Open Category sailing Laser Standard Boats. The competition started from RBYC towards Pulau Pepatan before returning back to the starting point at RBYC.
1126 Lt JG Mohd Amirul Azwan bin Hj Abdullah,RBN was the fastest amongst all RBAF sailors however he was placed at sixth position at The Long Course Category. Representatives from Sarawak won the overall prize for the event. The other participants from RBN were 866 Lt Mohd Husaini bin Hj Sofian,RBN; 986 Lt JG Mohd Khairul Lizam bin Hj Damit, RBN; 17310 PO Abdul Alim bin Hj Mohammad, RBN and 15734 LH Pg Mohd Yusrizal bin Pg Yunus, RBN.
The organizer of the event also presented prizes to the winners on Sunday afternoon after the race event. RBAF hopes to participate in any upcoming local and regional sailing competitions and to hone the skills of its young officers as good sail riders for Brunei.
